Content, sharing, AI, and cooking safety
Recipy exists to preserve family Recipys and the memories around them. This policy explains what you may record, upload, share, and print, the rights Recipy needs, how AI is used, and how to report content or a safety concern.
It applies to recordings, transcripts, Recipy text, imports, photos, stories, names, dedications, book titles and covers, public pages, and any other material submitted through Recipy.
The service is operated by AB & GL Nexus Global Partners Limited, Irish company 764964.
1. Keep your rights and respect other people's rights
You keep the rights you have in your content. The Terms of Use and Sale give Recipy a limited licence to host, process, format, export, print, fulfill, support, and deliberately share it for you.
Only submit material if you own it or have the rights and authority needed for the use you choose. Copyright and related rights can protect original writing, photographs, sound recordings, performances, artwork, and the arrangement of published material. A familiar dish or family idea does not give permission to copy another person's protected words, photo, illustration, recording, or book design.
Write Recipys and stories in your own words. Do not scan or copy a published recipe, cookbook page, website article, photograph, logo, or illustration unless you have permission or a lawful basis that covers Recipy's processing, printing, and any sharing you enable.
2. Voices, images, memories, and family information
A family member's voice, image, name, story, and private information belong to their life even when you are preserving a shared memory. Before submitting them, consider:
- whether the person agreed or would reasonably expect this private use;
- whether you have authority to record and use their voice or image;
- whether the material reveals sensitive, embarrassing, or unsafe details;
- who will receive a printed copy or public link; and
- whether a child is involved.
Do not secretly record a conversation or upload another person's private material merely because you have a copy. Recording laws and privacy expectations depend on context. If in doubt, ask the person first or leave that material out.
Accounts are for adults aged 18 or over. Material involving a child requires appropriate legal authority and must serve the child's best interests. Avoid public sharing of a child's full name, location, school, routine, private story, or identifiable voice or image.
3. Private by default and deliberate public sharing
Editable Recipys and books are private unless the owner enables public sharing. Before enabling a public page, Recipy should show what will be visible and let the owner make a separate choice about audio.
A public link can be opened, copied, screenshotted, downloaded, indexed, quoted, or reshared by other people. Disabling it tells Recipy to stop serving the page, but cannot remove copies already made elsewhere. A printed QR code also remains in circulation. Recipy does not promise permanent hosted links or audio.
Do not publish another person's material unless you have authority for public, not merely private, use. Contact us if you are shown or identified on a public Recipy page and want it reviewed.
4. Content that is not allowed
Do not use Recipy to create, store, share, or print content that:
- sexually exploits or abuses a child, or depicts sexual content involving a child;
- contains non-consensual intimate material, sexual exploitation, or credible sexual abuse;
- credibly threatens, promotes, praises, or instructs serious violence, terrorism, or violent extremism;
- encourages suicide, self-harm, poisoning, or another person's serious injury;
- intentionally gives dangerous food, chemical, or consumption instructions designed to harm;
- unlawfully harasses, stalks, doxxes, blackmails, or threatens a person;
- attacks or dehumanises people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, disability, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or another protected characteristic;
- impersonates a person or organisation in a deceptive or harmful way;
- contains malware, credential theft, fraud, spam, or instructions to break Recipy's security;
- infringes copyright, trademark, performers' rights, privacy, confidentiality, data-protection, or other legal rights;
- exposes a private address, phone number, financial detail, authentication secret, or similarly sensitive identifier without a lawful and necessary reason;
- violates Lulu's lawful print restrictions or carrier rules; or
- is otherwise illegal to possess, process, publish, or print in the relevant place.
Context matters. A family history that documents prejudice is not automatically the same as content promoting it. Recipy may consider purpose, audience, likelihood of harm, applicable law, and whether a narrower restriction can address the problem.
5. AI transcription and Recipy generation
Recipy uses Deepgram for transcription and OpenAI GPT-6 Luna or the retained Google Gemini configuration to turn selected input into editable Recipy structure. Depending on the flow, the provider may receive audio, transcript, image, imported text, existing Recipy context, title hint, or language information. Luna receives transcripts rather than original audio. Public News translations also use Gemini.
AI can:
- mishear or omit an ingredient;
- change a unit, number, timing, temperature, or sequence;
- confuse similar names or languages;
- invent a plausible detail that was never supplied;
- miss an allergy or food-safety risk; or
- produce wording too similar to source material you did not have permission to use.
You must review and correct the result. Approval of a proof confirms that you reviewed the exact edition, but it does not turn Recipy into a food-safety or medical adviser.
Recipy does not train its own general-purpose AI model on family content.
Production Deepgram requests use its EU processing endpoint and opt each request out of the Model Improvement Program. Gemini processing is permitted only through a project configured for business use with active Cloud Billing and the applicable data-processing terms. If an approved provider configuration is unavailable, Recipy must stop that processing path rather than send family content under consumer or model-training terms.
OpenAI requests use the business API with response storage and optional training sharing disabled. This does not remove standard abuse-monitoring retention or guarantee European processing. Private recovery checkpoints can remain for 24 hours, and terminal job metadata is eligible for cleanup after seven days. See the Privacy notice for provider and retention details.
6. Allergy and cooking safety
Family Recipys and AI drafts are not professionally tested. Before cooking or serving, check:
- every ingredient and quantity against the cook's real method;
- allergens in every branded product, substitution, garnish, sauce, and shared utensil;
- dietary, medical, pregnancy, age, cultural, and religious needs of the people eating;
- safe internal temperatures and doneness for the specific food;
- chilling, storage, defrosting, reheating, and leftover limits;
- local public-health guidance; and
- whether a wild plant, mushroom, preserved food, alcohol, chemical, or specialist technique needs expert advice.
Do not rely on Recipy to identify all allergens or make a dish safe for a particular person. Ingredient labels and manufacturing processes can change. If a recipe involves a serious allergy or specialist risk, consult an appropriate qualified professional and authoritative local food-safety guidance.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland publishes current consumer food-safety guidance. That link is informational and does not mean the FSAI reviewed a Recipy.
7. Printing and proof responsibility
Lulu may review or reject print files under its own lawful content restrictions. Recipy can also stop an order where printing would be illegal, unsafe, infringing, or a serious breach of this policy.
Before final payment, review every proof page. Check rights, privacy, factual accuracy, images, layout, and cooking safety. A book printed exactly as approved may not qualify for a free reprint merely because a visible customer-supplied detail was wrong. Recipy remains responsible for manufacturing defects, changes after approval, and other lack of conformity as explained in the Cancellation and Refund Policy.
8. Reporting public content or a rights concern
Email support@recipy.to or use the form at /legal. Include:
- the exact public URL or enough information to identify the content;
- whether the concern is copyright, privacy, child safety, threat, illegality, impersonation, or another category;
- a clear explanation of why the content is unlawful or violates this policy;
- your name and email, unless an urgent safety reason makes that inappropriate;
- supporting evidence or proof of rights where relevant; and
- a statement that you believe the report is accurate and made in good faith.
For a copyright report, identify the protected work, explain your relationship to the owner, identify the material complained of, and state the action requested. Do not knowingly make a false report.
If there is immediate danger, contact the appropriate emergency service first. Do not use Recipy's support inbox as an emergency service.
9. What happens after a report
Recipy will acknowledge a sufficiently contactable report, assess it fairly, and may request more information. Depending on the facts, we may:
- take no action;
- restrict public access while investigating;
- disable audio but keep other content;
- remove or restrict content;
- stop a print order;
- warn, suspend, or close an account;
- preserve relevant evidence;
- notify the person who submitted the content and explain the reason; or
- report suspected serious criminal activity when law requires it.
We aim to use the least restrictive effective response, but urgent safety or clear illegality can require immediate action. Where lawful and appropriate, the affected user can request review by replying to the decision. A counter-notice should explain why the content is lawful, provide supporting rights or permission, and identify any mistake in the report.
The legal contact form and support inbox are Recipy's launch reporting channel. We keep enough information to assess the report, give a reasoned outcome where appropriate, allow a reply requesting review, and meet any legal preservation or serious-crime reporting duty.
10. Account action and refunds
A serious or repeated breach can lead to content removal, blocked printing, suspension, or closure. Recipy will not use this policy to remove mandatory consumer rights. Whether a payment is refunded depends on the stage, facts, work already performed, and law. See the Cancellation and Refund Policy.
11. Policy changes
We may update this policy as the service, risks, or law changes. The version accepted for a paid order continues to govern relevant order content unless law requires otherwise. We will give reasonable notice of a material change affecting active users.
